Saturday 25th August – Bike *** Felixtowe to Levington – sunny periods.

With wind coming for Sunday and Monday today was a bit more relaxing as we have had a hectic week picking the new windsurf trailr up plus two long canal bike rides and a windsurf. As the weather was nice today we decided to pack a picnic and head out on the bikes. I wanted some elastic for the uphaul on one of my booms so decided to head to Seamark Nunn at Trimley. We went through the lovely Grove and along Gulpher Lane and saw a tiny foal at the old golf driving range:) It was then along the farm track that skirts Felixstowe to Seamark Nunn where the elastic cost the princely sum of £2.50. Then back to Grimston Lane which leads down to the River Orwell near Levington where we had our picnic on the beach watching the action on the river which included laughing water skiers, loads of yachts and an oil tanker plus a few varieties of birds. It was then back through the tree lined paths passing some deer and a squirrel. A quick stop at Morrisons before heading home, we had been out 2 hrs 50 mins covering 10.50 miles but it was hard going as we were tired after the busy week! Might get a sail tomorrow at Felixstowe tomorrow before the rain arrives and perhaps another go at Levington on Monday as definitely don’t fancy the 100 mile round trip on a Bank holiday!
